For more than 50 years, Colombia has suffered the devastation of an aggressive civil war which in the last two decades has degenerated into ruthless terrorism against the civilian population. The bloodshed, the tragedy, has taken hundreds of thousands of lives as it has destroyed entire communities through bombings, kidnappings and violent killings. As one of the 5 million Colombian expatriates living abroad, I make a pledge to help the families and in particular the innocent children, victims of a sad and senseless war. Today, February 7th, 2008, I pledge to donate a significant part of my profits from the sale of Blessings Given to “Fundacion Saciar,” which operates a food bank in the city of Medellin feeding daily, thousands of needy families.
